COUNSELLING

Guidance and  Counselling Cell

A guidance and counseling cell has been set up to provide expert guidance in setting up and organising new libraries.  A librarian was sent by the office of the CID Haryana to acquire knowledge and training to set up may and maintain the library in an appropriate manner in the institution he is working. Librarians from local schools are also often sent here to acquire the necessary information and guidance for setting up libraries in their respective institutions.

Guidance to Information and Library Sciences Students

Keeping in view the need and ever-increasing demand of students pursuing Library and Information Science, especially through distance education programs, the library has taken a proactive step in offering academic guidance and hands-on practical training in technical subjects. Distance learners often face challenges in accessing real-time academic support and practical exposure, which are essential in a professional field like Library Science.

To bridge this gap, the library has created a structured program that allows students to interact directly with experienced information managers. These interactions not only clarify theoretical concepts but also expose students to the latest tools, technologies, and practices used in modern libraries. Through guided sessions, workshops, and live demonstrations, students gain practical skills in cataloguing, classification, digital library management, and use of library automation software.

This initiative has significantly enhanced the learning experience for distance education students, empowering them with the competence and confidence needed for their future careers. By blending academic knowledge with practical application, the library ensures that these students are not left behind due to the limitations of distance learning. It stands as a model for academic support and professional development in the field of Library and Information Science.
