BuildingThe administrative  section of the library is an important wing to assist the establishment activities of the library. It keeps and maintains the records pertaining to various budgetary provisions of the library like salary, expenditure and other matters pertaining to physical stock and infrastructure of the library.

The Administration Section at T. S. Central State Library, Sector 17, Chandigarh plays a critical role in the smooth functioning and governance of the library. It is responsible for maintaining all records and managing operational logistics across multiple library sections. Its key functions include budget administration, staff oversight, infrastructure maintenance, and custody of institutional documentation.

Specifically, the Administration Section:

  • Handles Budgetary Oversight: It tracks budgetary provisions—salaries for staff, expenditures on collections and events, and general operational costs.
  • Manages Infrastructure and Physical Stock: Responsible for upkeep of the library’s physical plant, including the building and furnishings, as well as monitoring the physical inventory of books, periodicals, and other materials.
  • Maintains Institutional Records: This section archives important documents related to procurement, staff records, membership statistics, and inter‑library loan operations.
  • Coordinates with Other Sections: It liaises closely with technical, circulation, periodical, children’s, and reference departments, ensuring the flow of resources, staff, and services remains uninterrupted.
  • Registration of new members: Registering new Library Patrons and issuing new library cards.

As part of a larger organizational framework, the Administration Section supports both the day‑to‑day functioning and longer‑term planning initiatives of the library.
